Lending Specialist

Are you a consumer lender or experienced loan processor who'd like to learn mortgage lending? Want to earn up to $1000 a month in incentives in addition to your hourly wage? Fond du Lac Credit Union has an opportunity for an outgoing person to join our Lending team.

This person will be responsible for interviewing applicants for consumer loans and mortgage, sell loan related products that fit our members' needs, provide members with general credit union and specific loan information. Ensure that each loan is processed, properly documented, closed, disbursed, coordinated and filed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Assist members with the loan application process and conduct in-depth conversations to obtain all necessary information for making credit decisions.
  • Pull credit report and verify debts, income and calculate debt ratio.
  • Determine collateral needs and payment plans for loan applicants.
  • Approve/deny loan applications according to Credit Union lending policies.
  • Prepare all appropriate documents for consumer loans and file necessary papers with Register of Deeds or Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
  • Explain reasons for denial and explore options for members when loans are denied.
  • Prepare all appropriate mortgage loan documents including title searches, appraisals and other legal work.
  • Confer with members, title companies, brokers, attorneys, Director of Lending on routine basis.
  • Ensure approved loans are properly documented, liens filed or perfected and all paperwork is properly completed.
  • Disburse loans accurately, and answer member questions.
  • Mail proper documents for paid loans.
  • Monitor and file all bankruptcy claims.
  • Process month end delinquency report.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential for interviewing loan applicants and projecting a positive image as representative for Credit Union.
  • Knowledge of consumer and mortgage loans, credit granting criteria, interest rates and how they are computed, and required documentation.
  • High School diploma plus completion of additional coursework in lending.
  • At least two years of experience in a lending department of a branch office of a credit union or financial institution preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to make effective decisions based on analyzing information.
  • Knowledge of Federal Rules and Regulations affecting lending.
  • Familiarity with collection activities.
  • Efficient and accurate.
  • Punctual, dependable and cooperative.
     

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.75 per hour based on experience

Lending: 2 years (Preferred)

Financial Services: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • NMLS (Preferred)
